Kadia Blagrove

Writer & Creative Consultant

I write the words. I solve the problem behind the problem. I make the scattered thoughts make sense.

HELLO!

I'm Kadia. I’m a writer who thinks and a thinker who writes.

Throughout my career, I've learned that good storytelling isn't just about the words. It's about knowing your audience, understanding what you're actually trying to say, and having the clarity to say it well. I bring humor when it's needed, honesty when it's necessary, and the kind of emotional depth that makes people feel something when they read it.

Some days the work looks like a pitch deck. Some days it's a script, a social strategy, a press brief, or just being the person who untangles twenty half-finished ideas into one clear plan.

If you need someone who can write it, organize it, and tell you the truth about whether it's working — that's me.

PORTFOLIO / WORK

Here’s some of my most recent work.

Case Study 1: Pitch Deck for Event Planning Studio (Ongoing)

Writing · Brand Strategy · Pitch Materials

I’m working with an event planning studio to build out the brand story and pitch materials they need to land more publicity and press. That means writing targeted pitch emails, building a press brief, outlining a pitch deck, and laying out next steps in a scope email that makes the whole thing feel doable instead of overwhelming.

The point: I can take someone's business and figure out how to talk about it in a way that actually lands. I can write the materials AND map out the plan to use them.

Case Study 2: She Island (Film)

Writing · Screenwriting · Translation · Story Leadership

I led the writing team on She Island, a short film directed by Raven Irabor, currently screening internationally. The film follows an all-woman cast, set in Trinidad — and the job required more than writing. I consulted with the filmmaker, translated poetry, folklore, and ideas across multiple Caribbean dialects, and synthesized all of it into one cohesive script with a unified voice.

When it came time to name the film, the filmmaker came to me. I presented a short list of options, each with the thinking behind it. “She Island” was the most compelling — a double entendre that plays on Caribbean colloquialism and centers the women the story belongs to. It stuck.

The point: I can hold a complex creative vision, work across languages and cultural registers, lead a team of writers, and make something that started as many things into one clear, singular story. And when you need someone to name the thing — I can do that too.

Case Study 3: Body Image Documentary (Ongoing)

Writing · Research · Project Coordination · Creative Consulting

I've been working behind the scenes on a feature documentary centered on body positivity — and "behind the scenes" is exactly the right phrase. This one isn't about my name on the script, but about being the person who makes the whole thing moveable.

Simplified, this project is mostly creative coordinating. But truly, the role includes editing and rewriting interview questions, supporting research on the film's subject matter, and handling the production logistics that keep subjects and stakeholders on track — coordinating travel and hotel details, communicating deliverables, sending wardrobe guidelines, managing the back-and-forth that comes with getting real people in front of a camera. After years as an executive admin, I know what it costs when the logistics fall apart. So I make sure they don't. I've also counseled the filmmaker on how to organize the creative vision into something with an actual workflow behind it. That's a skill a lot of creatives need and not many people can provide without making them feel managed.

The fundraising rollout is still in progress — more to come.

The point: Creative work doesn't run on dreams and vibes alone. Someone has to bring the logistics, the strategy, and the structure. I can write the script and send the itinerary.

Case Study 4: The Pop-Up Care Shop

Storytelling · Social Media · Partnerships · Coordination

I co-founded The Pop-Up Care Shop in 2016 — a NYC nonprofit that produces pop-up boutiques of free clothing and empowerment programming for women experiencing homelessness. A decade in, I'm still the person making sure the mission is legible, the messaging is consistent, and the community actually connects when they engage with us.

On the creative side, I write and produce all of our social content and design the graphics that go with it. (Shout out to Canva 😎) I shape our voice, aesthetic, and our messaging so that our identity is understood across all platforms.

On the partnerships and communications side, I've secured and maintained relationships with brands including J.Crew, Think Coffee, Shea Moisture, Black Girl Sunscreen, Beacon's Closet, Outre, and others — each one requiring a pitch, a follow-through, and an ongoing relationship that reflects well on the organization.

The point: I can run the whole pipeline: tell the story, build the visuals, get the partners, and coordinate the logistics so the project comes together with ease.

Lea The Late Bloomer

(Web Series)

Writing · Creating · Awards

I created and wrote Lea the Late Bloomer, an award-winning web series that secured a licensing deal with iOne Digital. The story follows Lea, a jobless underachieving filmmaker on her quest to make it in an insta-glow-up world of blue check marks and clout.
